About HSDCRS
Heart and Soul Dog and Cat Rescue Society is a volunteer-run and donation-funded rescue based in Abbotsford, BC, Canada. Our goal is to help improve the lives of unwanted and neglected dogs and cats in the Fraser Valley and surrounding areas. Our efforts are made possible thanks to donors like yourself, and a passionate community of fosters and volunteers.
The rescue was founded in late 2015, when two small rescues joined forces to help unwanted and neglected dogs and cats. We are determined to put our Hearts and Souls into finding forever homes for every one of these precious animals. We are a rescue that is focused on spay and neuter - the numbers of unwanted kittens, cats, dogs, and puppies, are staggering. It is mind blowing to think that 1 in every 10 kittens or puppies do not find a home.
We provide all animals that come into our care with the necessary vetting, love, and attention to prepare them for their forever homes. All animals will be dewormed, treated with flea medication, given the appropriate vaccinations for their age, vet checked, and spayed or neutered at the appropriate age for the animal.
When a litter of kittens or puppies are surrendered to our rescue through our spay and neuter program, we will spay the mom, update her vaccinations as necessary, return her to her owner, and neuter any intact male in the home at that time as well.
Heart and Soul Community Cat Trappers is a division of the rescue made up of dedicated volunteers who help feral, barn, and stray cats in the Abbotsford community. Through Trap-Neuter-Return and colony management, we help manage local overpopulation of cats. We also help reconnect stray cats with their families, and connect barns with barn cats when we can.
We are partnered with Catfe (Unit #2035 – Second Floor, International Village Mall, 88 W Pender St, Vancouver, BC). The cat cafe houses 20-25 of our adoptable cats while they await adoption into their furever homes. Adoption applications are accepted through Catfe, and the cats there can be visited 7 days a week (admission fee applies, please check their website for details).
