Maevis is a sweet little lady at only ~35 lbs! Given her Beagle lineage, she has adorable little legs, which have a beautiful speckled pattern! She came into the rescue with her litter of pups who are now about 3-4 months old, and now she’s ready to leave the mama life behind and become a pampered pup in a furever home of her own. They were rescued from a rural northern community, so Maevis is still getting used to the new scents, sights, and sounds of the social city girl life. This means that she can become a bit overstimulated when leaving the house for a walk, may bark at the first few people she sees, and can become overly excited to see other dogs. This excitement can manifest in barking, growling, pulling on the leash, and eventually whining, but she’s really a gentle girly at heart, and has been all bark and no bite. She’s even gentle with her toys, only chews her toys, and hasn’t been destructive at all. She would do best with some patience and a slow introduction to new dogs. She has been fostered with cats before, but does tend to chase them when overly excited to meet them, so would only do well with cats who are tolerant of her excitement. She has done great with the children she’s met on her walks, and would likely do best with older children (she sometimes gives gentle play bites when she’s being playful). At 2 years young, Maevis is the perfect mix of calm and relaxed along with some bursts of playful puppy energy. She is very good with being left on her own during the workday, and has consistently done her business outside with no issue. When she’s not overly excited, she walks very well on leash and is good at keeping pace with you. Maevis is a smart girl who has been working on perfecting her “sits” and “stays” so far, and she is food motivated so she will be happy to learn with you. She’s looking for her perfect furever family who will be patient with helping her practice good manners when meeting and socializing with other dogs. She’s very excited to meet them and doesn’t yet know how to manage those emotions, but is a perfect angel of a pup otherwise!
